Familiar Places is about people from different cultures who move to the United States. They create new communities and they enjoy their food ,clothes ,sounds ,language, and celebration.
We learned about Chinatown because the people who live there are different from Americans. The food, clothes, and celebrations are different from Americans. The language is different from Americans. They live in Chinatown because they want to be comfortable. My family and I moved to Lynn because we have family living here. It is comfortable for me and my family living here.

WE LOVE READING AND LEARNING
These are the six countries in the story "Kids Like Me." The teenagers in our story came from these countries and immigrated to the United States. Look at the pictures below. Today we are going to compare two stories. One is about someone I appreciate a lot and the other story is a story called Kids Like Me. My dad came from El Salvador to America and my dad's story is like the story that I read because these kids came from another country to America now tell my dad's story. My dad came here 19 years ago. When my dad got here he didn't know any English. It was hard for him. Here is the story I read. There are these teens who came from other countries to America. It was hard for them to fit in because they didn't know how to speak English.
