The ELA MCAS was really fine. Writing the narrative was hard except writing the essay because writing the narrative you need to write from a point of view. The essay was easy because we spent a lot of time practicing but the narrative was hard because we didn't spent time on it.

This week grade six did MCAS which was on Tuesday and Wednesday. Seven grade did the MCAS today and tomorrow. A few weeks ago we learn about Hurricane Katrina when we read "Fleeing Katrina" by Samantha Perez. Hurricane Katrina did a lot of damage in New Orleans and homes of a lot of people. This week we did a project about volcanoes. In f period some students did a presentation and the rest of the students did a writing project. From one group I learned that lava can melt ice and snow. From another group I learned when there is a lot of water vapor in the hot air it turns into little drops of water as it cools down. Finally I learned when the volcano is active it turns into a island, but the waves washes away the rock. From my project I learned that in June 15, 1991 Mount Pinatubo erupted it changed the climate because the hot ash and the gases from the eruption. These are two examples of Mount Pinatubo. This week our class began unit 3 . We are doing a project about volcanoes, so we separated into 8 groups. Each group gets to choose a project they can present or write on the computer. Each group chose a different article. For example my group is reading Volcanoes and Climates. Another group is learning about lava. Another group from E period is learning about volcanologists.
Angela: My group is going to do a presentation. The article says that a treadle pump looks and operates much like an exercise machine that you'd find in a gym. But the farmers who use these devices are not trying to lose pounds; they're trying to gain them. More than 850 million people in the world today are hungry most of time. These farm families go hungry because they do not have the resources to make their land produce enough food to meet their needs. For many of them, the missing resource is water. If you go to Bangladesh in January, which is a dry season, and everything is brown there. Many small farms are owned by women. So the treadle pump can radically change the lives of women by proving an opportunity for them to run their small farms.
Treadle pump operates much like an exercise machine you find in the gym but, is not use for loose pound is use for gain rice or crops. In Bangladesh is dry season some plant can't grow because they don't get enough rainfall so, the result in planted plants. Many is owned by the women. For a total investment is $35 and they finish paying it for about ten weeks. they also can send it by a phone Mobil bye sending a message saying that they are gonna pay the amount. A woman in Bangladesh uses a treadle pump to irrigate a rice field on her own farm.
This week we made a poster to show how to save water. For example, the teacher said we have to explain our posters, and talk about why our poster is effective for the students at Breed Middle School. We presented in front of the class. Mrs. Green said that we have to look for things that will give us a grade. The first one was eye contact. The second one was to speak loud, and work as a group. The last one was clear speaking. |
